You arrive through a private entrance in the late afternoon, the Sanur air already softer and slower than you expected. The villa opens up ahead of you — 150 square metres of light surfaces and calm geometry, the pool catching the last of the golden hour. You set your things down, switch on the ceiling fan, and the week resets.
Morning at The R Villa Sinabung begins in the kitchen. You grind coffee with what you picked up at the local market, the coffee maker running while you check the weather on the WiFi. The kitchen is properly stocked — blender, pots, crockery — and breakfast is easy and unhurried. Afterwards, you pull on a towel from the fresh stack provided and walk the short distance to Sanur's flat, calm beach. The seafront promenade here is one of the most pleasant in Bali: wide, uncluttered, with outrigger boats moored in the shallows and a horizon that stays clear most mornings.
Afternoons draw you back to the pool. The hot tub runs alongside it, and between the two, hours dissolve without effort. Air conditioning waits inside when the midday heat peaks, and the safe box holds anything you don't want to bring to the beach. By late afternoon, the outdoor space is the right temperature to simply sit with a book.
Evenings in Sanur reward walking. The neighbourhood has a genuine local restaurant scene within easy reach — seafood by the water, warung nasi campur, Indonesian coffee shops open late. You return to the villa as the streets go quiet, switch off the lights as you go — a small habit the house rules encourage — and sleep well in a space that genuinely earns the word restful.
